But Scott , I want to use the graphic user interface (aka “windows”) that’s available on the Pi, not the command line ! Can I still do the “remote control ” thing ? The wife doesn’t like me hogging our wide-screen TV !!!!

Yes, that’s fine. Install and start the VNC server on the RPi. Get a free VNC client for the gadget you’re gonna use as the “remote control”. I used RealVNC. There are clients for the Android, iphone, etc.
